Beautifully Irresistible Page 13

Our food came and we chatted about growing up. New Orleans sounded amazing and a lot more fun than North Yorkshire.

  “Good evening, Zack.”

I looked up and a tall dark-haired, not particularly handsome man was standing at the side of our table.

  “Good evening, David.”

His face took on an annoyed expression.

“Who is this divine creature and where have you been hiding her?”

“This divine stunning, beautiful woman is my housekeeper and live-in lover Jennifer!” Zack boldly declared.

I just about managed not to spray a mouthful of red wine all over the table.

“Oh, I see. It’s very nice to meet you, Jennifer” David told me, shaking my hand.

  I was dying to laugh.

“Enjoy your meal, David,” Zack said, rudely dismissing him.

  “Who was that?” I giggled.

“My idiot work associate. He winds me up so much, he is so incompetent.”

We were continuing with our meal when a very attractive blonde in her late thirties sauntered over to our table.

I took back what I said about the table being quiet.

  “Zachary darling, how are you?”

She fawned over him, touching his shoulder. A surge of jealousy washed over me as my hackles rose like a cat.

“Tara, it’s good to see you,” Zack told her, standing up and kissing her cheeks.

“I’m Tara darling, Phoebe’s best friend,” she informed me, looking me up and down.

“It’s very nice to meet you. I’m Jennifer, Zack’s housekeeper,” I told her, leaving out the lover part.

“Don’t forget live in lover!” Zack said mischievously.

I kicked his leg under the table. He winced but said nothing.

“Well, lucky you. I know from experience he is a real tiger in the sack!” she whispered, stroking his cheek.

  I was beyond fuming.

  “Goodbye, Tara,” Zack interrupted her.

“Goodbye, darling. You two make a dynamite couple.”

“Sorry about that. She was a drunken mistake when I was at a low point. Tara took advantage of me,” Zack told me looking embarrassed.

I pulled my hand away from his. I was so mad and insane with jealousy.

“She doesn’t seem much of a friend to Phoebe though. What a fucking man-eater!”

I felt my face flush. I scowled at him.

Sneaky blonde bimbo bitch! Well, he is with me now so back the fuck up!

“Are you jealous, baby?” he whispered.

“No! Yes, I am. I hate thinking of you with anyone else!”

“They are all nothing compared to you, my love!” he said, kissing my hand.

We continued on with our meal and I looked over to a table in the opposite corner. James was sitting there with a petite brunette. Shit! I really hoped that he hadn’t seen me. Just at that moment, he got up to go the gents and he passed our table. He looked straight at me and smiled. I hoped and prayed that he knew that I was on assignment or the shit would really hit the proverbial fan.

“Jenny, fancy seeing you again!” he laughed, smiling warmly at me.

“Hello, James. How are you?” I asked him as I cringed.

“Good, thanks. You haven’t introduced me to your companion, Jenny,” he scolded me.

“Oh sorry, this is Zachary Cole. My boss and err…”

“Lover!” Zack chimed in helpfully, shaking James’ hand.

  Oh my god!

“Right, nice to meet you, Zachary. Enjoy your night,” he mumbled, heading away from the table.

He glared back at me and I could tell that he was really jealous of Zack.

  “Awkward much!” he said, laughing.

“Yes, it was,” I grumbled, wishing we could just go home.

“Ex of yours, Jenny?” he asked, arching an eyebrow.

He didn’t miss a trick. How very annoying.

“Err yes. He was married too. Not my best decision!” I told him, looking away.

“Well, he clearly still has the hots for you, baby!” he whispered.

“Well, the feeling is not mutual! Why would I want burger when I clearly have prime, juicy, delicious steak,” I giggled, easing the tension.

“It’s too bad for him that you are mine, Jenny! Do you have any idea what you do to men?” he whispered, pulling me in for a very public display of affection.

When we had finished our meal, the taxi pulled up outside the restaurant.

“Did you enjoy yourself?” he asked, wrapping his arms around me.

“I did apart from the interruptions!”

“I can’t wait to get you home and show you what you mean to me, baby.”

“I can’t wait for you to show me,” I replied, touching his growing erection bulging in his trousers.

He started to kiss me and he ran a large warm hand up my thigh, slipping a finger into me. Heat and desire rushed through my body. I moaned into him whilst he claimed me with his beautiful mouth.

I literally burned for him. My body responded so shamelessly to him. I was soaking wet for him. Zack’s long fingers built up the pressure inside me as his thumb massaged my clit. Every time he did that I climaxed instantly.

“Oh Zack, you make me so horny!” I whispered in his ear, breathing in his gorgeous aftershave.

“It’s the same for me, baby!”

He smiled in the semi-darkness of the taxi. His eyes flashed dangerously. The want in them was very evident.

As the taxi pulled to a halt, Zack threw some money at the driver and we burst out of the door.

“This way, Jennifer, I want you, now!” Zack whispered, dragging me in his wake.

It was really hard to keep up with his long legs. He took me into the cabana, locking the door behind us. He quickly started to pull down the front of my dress. His eyes danced across my face as he licked his lips.

My heart pounded as I stepped out of it. His soft lips brushed my jawline and kissed down my wanting body. Zack reached up and pulled my pants down with one swift movement. His warm fingers entered me plunging deeply inside of me. Zack’s touch was so wonderful. My body felt red-hot with wanting him fiercely. He built to a satisfying rhythm.

I looked down at his bulging erection. I grabbed him tightly and pulled him into me, unzipping his trousers. Low moans filled the electric air as I grasped him and started moving my hand up and down him.

“You are so beautiful, Jennifer, and I love your underwear.”

His warm hand ran up my stocking and twanged my suspenders.

“I got them for you, gorgeous.”

“Keep them on and the shoes. Spread your legs wide, baby,” he instructed me, pushing me up against the wall.

I wrapped a leg around his waist. I quickly took off my bra to release my heavy breasts. I touched them, trying to relieve the pressure building in the nipples. Panting softly, he pulled me to him and pushed up hard.

I gasped as his mouth covered mine. He was too big for me, too much, but my greedy body didn’t care.

Zack divinely filled me and the feeling was so amazing, the best. My heavy breasts rubbed up against his shirt and I realised that he was fully clothed, his trousers still fastened. He had only released what he needed to. I was naked other than my suspenders and stockings. I un-buttoned his shirt. I was eager to feel his hot hard skin next to mine. My nipples made contact with his gorgeous body, rubbing quickly and roughly against him. He groaned as our bodies rubbed together.

“Harder!” I whispered as he increased the pace.

  “Hard enough, baby?”

“Yes! It feels amazing!” I panted, completely lost in the moment.

I tightened around his lovely body as I gritted my teeth. I rode out a wonderful orgasm as it crashed through my sensitive body. He continued to plunge in and out of me, building to his own climax.

Wall sex was so hot, especially with him. It felt so wild.

“I’m coming, baby!” Zack shouted as his hips pu
mped quickly into me.

He filled me up as he grunted into my hair.

  “That was so amazing, Zack!”

His beautiful eyes shone down at me in the still moonlit room. A shiver ran down my spine as I looked deeply into them.

  I loved him so much.

I really hoped that he felt with same way. I wanted to tell him how I felt about him but it would only complicate things and I was, after all, there to do a job.

“What are you thinking about, baby?”

“Just how happy I am when I am with you, Zack.”

“I am too. Do you want to know what I was thinking about, Jennifer?”

  “What, Zack?”

“I was thinking that…” he said then he looked away.

He buried his face in my neck and I felt him twitch inside me.

“You were thinking what, gorgeous?” I whispered, holding onto him.

Moments passed as he pulled back and looked at me. He seemed really worried about something.

“What is it, Zack? You can tell me anything you know. Don’t be shy.”

“I love you, Jennifer!” he blurted out.

His face looked so young, so vulnerable.

He looked directly at me and I saw the love in his beautiful blue eyes.

“I love you too, Zack. I always have.”

A tear ran down my flushed face. He brushed it away with his thumb before he kissed me softly and tenderly.

  Chapter Twenty

The following morning, my text alert sounded. Ross had summoned me to the station.

I headed down there and made my way to DI Ross’s large corner office. I was so nervous.

It had to be news about the gun.

I could hear him talking. Knocking quietly, he barked, “Black, come in, come in,” and he waved at me whilst he finished his phone call.

  “You wanted me, Sir?”

“Yes, we have had some results back on the weapon you found. There are no prints on it at all. It is his gun and strictly speaking, it should be secured in a box bolted to the floor. The gun is legal and above board. He bought it after Phoebe's disappearance.”

I realised I had been holding my breath as I had said silent prayers hoping that any prints on the gun were not Zack’s.

“You okay, Black? You look tired?”

I’m knackered by all the jaw-dropping, earth-shattering sex I am having.

“I am a bit but I am determined to make some more progress in this case. I am thinking about going to Zachary’s office in Canterbury to see if anything turns up there.”

“Sounds like a good plan, Black. Keep me informed,” he said, putting his head down and looking at some paperwork on his desk.

I wondered if he got a refund from the charm school.

I left his office and set back off to the house.

As I pulled up to the house, I decided to pay Billy a quick visit to see how Puzzle was doing. Billy said he had been a lot friendlier and calmer since I rode him.

Taking the path to the stables, I heard raised voices.

“No, get away from me!” someone shouted.

It sounded like Billy. My heart was pounding.

I broke out into a run to see what the commotion was. Suddenly there were two loud bangs in quick succession. It sounded like gunfire.

What the hell was going on? Jesus!

Bursting into the stable block, I caught a glimpse of a tall dark-haired man as he fled. I was about to give chase but saw out of the corner of my eye that Billy had been shot and was lying on the ground. Blood pooled around his frail body.

I couldn’t leave him and knelt by his side. “Billy! I will get some help!”

I quickly dialled an ambulance. Blood seeped lazily out of a large wound in his chest. He didn’t look good.

“Jennifer, help me please. I’m really cold,” he gasped, gripping his chest tightly.

I took my jacket off and wrapped it around him.

“Hold on Billy, stay with me.”

I found some towels in a nearby cupboard and I applied pressure to his wound. I could have done with finding out the identity of Billy’s assailant was but I couldn’t leave him on his own.

“Billy, listen to me. The ambulance is on its way. Who did this to you?”

“It was D…” his voice trailed off.

“Billy!” I screamed, trying to wake him.

Billy’s eyes closed and I felt him slip away in my arms.

Gatsby lay down next to Billy and licked his hand before he let out a soft whimper.

  “No! Billy!”

My voice echoed loudly around the silent stables.

  Chapter Twenty One

I heard the ambulance as it roared up the driveway sending gravel in all directions. Someone was shouting, “Hello.”

“In here!” I shouted as loud as I could.

Gatsby sprung up to his feet, barking. Two paramedics hurtled into the stable block.

“I think you are too late,” I told them as hot tears coursed down my cheeks.

They checked his vital signs and pronounced him dead, checking the time.

“Here, Miss, let us see to him now,” one of them told me, gently pulling me up and away from Billy’s body.

They could see that I had been trying my best to save him. Marcia ran over to where we were congregated.

“Oh no, what’s happened to poor Billy?”

She started sobbing as I put my arms around her.

The paramedics placed Billy on a gurney just as the police pulled into the drive.

“Nobody go anywhere. We need statements from you all,” a tall arrogant detective informed us.

Another shorter detective walked up behind him.

  Shit! I knew him!

“Hi, Jennifer, what are you doing here?”

“I work here,” I casually told him, putting a finger up to my lips to silence any further comment.

“Oh, I see,” he replied, quickly realising what the situation was.

I went over what had happened with the first detective whilst some uniformed policemen checked out the grounds.

“Nothing here, Sarge,” one of the uniforms told us on his return.

“Okay. That’s all for now, Miss Black. Please can you come into the station tomorrow to make a formal statement? If you think of anything else, please get in touch.”

He passed me over his card. They proceeded to tape off the area to preserve the crime scene for forensics.

I heard Zack’s car roaring up the driveway. He jumped out of the car and made his way over to us.

“Jennifer, are you okay?” he asked, putting his arms around me.

“I’m okay, thanks,” I replied, realising that I was shivering.

  “What the hell happened?”

“Billy was arguing with someone and he was saying he would tell you about whatever they were arguing about then two shots rang out. Billy’s dead,” I said as tears ran down my cheek.

“What? The ambulance passed me but I had no idea about Billy.”

“Can we go inside? I’m really cold.”

“You will be in shock, Jennifer. Let’s get you some brandy.”

He led me slowly back to the house.

“What about Scarlett and Jasper? They will need collecting soon.”

“I will pick them up. Don’t worry.”

We got into the house and Zack seated me on one of the large sofas in the lounge. He made me a large brandy and sat next to me with his arm around my shoulder.

“I wonder who would want to kill Billy,” Zack said, more to himself than me.

“It has got to have something to do with Phoebe, Zack. He must have found something out.”

“Yes, it must. What did the man who shot Billy look like?”

“He was tall with dark, almost black hair and slim built. Does he sound like anyone you know?”

  “No, I don’t think so.”

“I will go and get the kids. I will have to tell them about Billy. They will be he
art broken. He was like a Grandfather to them.”

  “Oh, bless them.”

Zack kissed me gently on the lips.

  “I won’t be long.”

I sat on the sofa mulling over the recent events trying my hardest to figure out what was going on.

The shooter seemed familiar and I was sure that I had met him.

  DI Ross rang me.

  “Are you okay, Black?”

  “I’m fine, thanks.”

“Where was Cole at the time of the shooting?”

“He was travelling back from his office. He has an alibi.”

“Keep me posted and please be careful.”

Ross must be going soft in his old age.

Zack and the twins returned from school and Scarlett’s face was all blotchy from crying.

“Oh Jennifer, poor Billy!” she cried as I took her into my arms.

She sat next to me on the sofa and cried herself to sleep. I never left her side as I stroked her hair.

Jaspers eyes were filled with tears as he sat down next to me. He nuzzled into my shoulder and I kissed the top of his head. Quiet tears ran down his face.

Zack smiled over at me, grateful for looking after them.

“Poor kids, they really have been through some bad stuff.”

“I know they have. Thank you, Jennifer.”

Scarlett was in a deep sleep so Zack gently lifted her off the sofa and carried her up to her bedroom.

Jasper mumbled something about going into the garage to practice his guitar. He looked pale and washed out.

I went into the kitchen and opened some wine.

  “Are you hungry, Zack?”

  “No, not really.”

I passed him his glass of wine and we sipped it in silence, brooding over Billy's death.

“I will need to see his widow at some point. Billy worked for me for a long time.”

“Well, you can do that tomorrow. Try and relax now, Zack.”

I stood up and put my arms around him as a lone tear travelled down his tired face.

The following morning, we ate breakfast in silence. Eventually, Zack turned to me. “Why don’t we drop the twins at school then you can come into the office with me. We could have some lunch. It might cheer you up after yesterday. I can’t stop thinking about Billy. Will you come and see his widow with me?”
